About Us

This blog seeks to document the events, idea, and people shaping our world. Originally, World Abacus was a numerology blog. The earliest posts show a format which sought to directly predict the personality of each particular day. In 2011 it was decided to take a different approach and instead focus on documenting the events that shape our time, while limiting numerological analysis to subtle references and only occasional direct analysis. Due to the subjective interpretation of events and patterns behind them, it was felt that this approach is more practical and accessible to the general public, yet still offers an opportunity for using numerology to understand broad societal and global trends.

By looking at happenings over time, certain patterns can be found that provide information which can be studied and used for a variety of purposes. We don’t make any claims that this is an exact science, or even a scientific field of study in any sense of the word. It should rather be thought of as an art of observation, using intuition to interpret meaning from random events. While such an endeavor could be seen as spiritual in nature, it doesn’t necessarily have to be of any type of supernatural origin.

We’re not interested in questions such as, “is numerology real?” There is no attempt here to make any claims that numerology or similar systems have any special power. Our view is more Jungian, in that we believe these types of activities simply offer an archetypal framework based on universal principles which make it easier to practice the very intuitive skills we all use on a daily basis already. It isn’t that much different than predicting the stock market, forecasting the weather, planning future goals, anticipating a date, or learning from history.

Of course, this blog can be enjoyed without even the slightest interest in this esoteric study since it is most of all a documentation of the stories that shape the world we live in. Many, if not most, readers will find the main benefit of this site is that it filters down the vast amount of information available into an easily managed stream of the most compelling people and events of the day.
